Getting better in English
February 23, 2008
Here is my story. I did my schooling in a country side school. Our mother language is Nepali and you can rarely listen English there. We had only one class in English language in school. The result, I was very weak in English. I came to the city and joined high school. I had really good time in high school because all the subjects are then in English. I’d never heard those words before. After very hard time, I started to understand what they say. But still, I couldn’t write English. I mean I used to write English but I wrote all grammatical errors. I then joined a web design business and made some western clients with whom I need to talk in English. I tried every possible way to learn English.Language class, practicing with friends, books and all that but nothing helped. And at last I stumbled this site 6 months ago. I wanted to give a try and got this book, Essential English for Authors. And this changed my life. Now, I’m good with my business, I can talk with my clients without any hesitation and I’m writing a book.
This book is written by Nick Daws. She is a well know writer. This book actually is for those who want to write in English. Who want to publish books in English. But I used it on my business too. This is very useful book. It covers the punctuation primer, rules of capitalization, paragraph construction, Subject and verb agreement, spelling improvement and a lot other area on language which will not only help you to write a book but to make a better English speaker too. Essential English for Author is a book that is worth reading.
