Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr Boxing Match

A boxing match between six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya and undefeated four division champion Floyd Mayweather took place on May 5, 2007 which was called ” De La Hoya vs Mayweather: The World Awaits”. The match took place in MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada which went very popular. The tickets sold out three hours after it went on sale on January 2007, 2001. That sell out broke out the record of most revenue generated by selling $19 million in live gate. The previous record was $16,860,300 which was set on November 13, 1999 , in the heavyweight championship rematch between Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewix. The match was televised through HBO pay per view for 55$ in United States.

Mayweather took De La Hoya’s junior middleweight belt by winning a split decision. Now the record holder, richest boxing fight the in history is getting a sequel. The same players Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya will again fight in a rematch. The match will be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions which promoted the earlier match also. The match will be on september and be aired through HBO Pay Per Click and probably be hosted on Dodger Stadium. This will be another biggest boxing match and probably set another record in boxing history. And of course Mayweather/De La Hoya tickets will not be easy to get which was sold within 3 hour last time.
